1.Who is responsible for your data
Settle+ is operated by Triora Management Consultancies FZCO, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They decide what is collected and why, and they are who you contact about any of it.
For anything on this page — a correction, a copy of your data, or a deletion request — email admin@settleplus.ae or message the team on WhatsApp. Both reach the same people.
2.What we actually collect
When you create an account:
- your email address, and your name;
- your mobile number — this is the one the team uses to reach you about a place, which is why it is required;
- your age and nationality, if you give them;
- your gender, which drives same-gender roommate matching and is set once.
If you use the roommate finder: your budget range, preferred areas, university, sleep and cleanliness preferences, smoking and guest preferences, a short bio, and a profile photo if you upload one.
As you use the app: listings you save, viewings you request, messages you send, and which listings you enquired about — including which team member the enquiry was routed to, so nobody gets contacted twice or forgotten.
We do not collect payment card details, bank details or identity documents through this platform, because no payments are taken here.
3.Why we hold each of those things
- Name and phone number — so the team can answer your enquiry. This is the core of the service; without it a listing enquiry goes nowhere.
- Email — to sign you in, and to send you notifications about your enquiries and viewings.
- Gender — to enforce same-gender roommate matching.
- Roommate preferences — to calculate match scores. Budget, area, university and lifestyle answers are compared against other students' answers.
- Enquiry records — so the team can follow up, and so we know which listings are getting interest.
4.Who can see it
This is the part most policies are vague about, so:
- Anyone, signed in or not, can see published listings and their photos, published community events, and the university list. Nobody who is not signed in can see any student profile, roommate profile or enquiry.
- Other students see your first name, initial, age, university, areas, budget range and lifestyle answers in the roommate feed. They see your phone number only once you have both matched.
- The Settle+ team sees your name, number and email when you enquire, and can read in-app conversations for moderation.
- Landlords do not get direct access to the platform. Enquiries go through the team.
5.Messages and the contact filter
Messages between matched students are stored so the conversation is there when you come back. Phone numbers and messaging handles are automatically stripped from message text before it is saved — so a message may read differently from what you typed. That filter exists to keep early contact on-platform, where there is a record if something goes wrong.
Administrators can read these conversations for moderation, read-only. Treat in-app chat as moderated, not private.
6.Where it is stored, and who processes it
Your data is stored in a Postgres database and file storage operated by Supabase, and the apps run on Vercel. Both are processors acting on our instructions. Email delivery and Google sign-in involve the relevant provider handling your email address. Google Maps loads a map on listing pages.
Access is enforced at the database level, not only in the interface — the rules described in section 4 are policies on the tables themselves, so a bug in a page cannot expose another student's profile.
The database and uploaded files are hosted by Supabase in their Mumbai, India region. The website itself runs on Vercel's global network, which serves pages from whichever location is closest to you. So yes — your data is stored outside the UAE, and we would rather say that plainly than bury it.
7.How long we keep it
Account and roommate profile data is kept while your account is open. Enquiry records — who asked about which listing — are kept so the team has a history of what was discussed with whom.
Ask us to delete your account and we will delete your profile, your roommate profile, your photos and your messages. Enquiry records are anonymised rather than removed, so the team keeps a count of interest in a listing without keeping you attached to it. We have not set a fixed automatic retention period, and we are not going to state one here that nobody has actually agreed to.
8.Your choices
- Correct it — name, number, age, nationality and all roommate preferences are editable from your profile.
- Go invisible — switching your roommate profile to inactive removes you from other students' feeds without deleting anything.
- Get a copy, or have it deleted — ask us and we will action it. Deleting your account removes your profile and roommate data; we may keep a minimal record of enquiries already handled.
To exercise any of these, use the contact page or WhatsApp the team.
9.Age
Settle+ accounts are for people aged 18 and over, in line with our Terms & Conditions. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, tell us and we will remove it and the data attached to it.
10.Changes
If we start collecting something new or sharing it with someone new, we will update this page and say so in the app rather than editing quietly. The date at the top reflects the current version.
